Hi, I'm Molly Bridges Donovan. I’m an actor, filmmaker and artist based in New York City.

I’m the co-writer/director and star of the award-winning feature film, BACK FOR GOOD, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes and Google Play. I co-wrote and directed the film with my brother, Bailey Donovan. I also co-wrote music for the film and created art for the poster. BACK FOR GOOD has received awards for 'Best Narrative Feature', 'Best Director(s)', and 'Best Actress' (for my role as Max Kelly) at the Chain NYC Film Festival. We also picked up awards for 'Best Drama Feature' and 'Best Director(s)" at the Atlanta Underground Film Festival. My short film, The Grass is Greener, which I co-wrote/directed and starred in, premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival and was an official selection of the Maryland Film Festival.

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and started acting on stage when I was eight years-old. My first role was Mamillius in The Winter’s Tale, with the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival. My portrayal of Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank was recognized as one of the stand-out performances of the year by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Growing up, when I wasn’t acting, I was dancing, writing, painting, singing, playing drums, going to countless punk shows… What led me to filmmaking was the desire to combine all the artistic elements I love— how things look, how they feel, how they sound— all while crafting specific characters that come together to tell a story.

In high school, I studied acting and dance at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts. (Kevin Bacon went there!) I then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where I received the Charles Jehlinger “Most Likely to Succeed” Award upon graduation. (Robert Redford got that!) After AADA, I studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, followed by scene study with the legendary Wynn Handman in New York. (There’s a Netflix documentary about him!) In January 2021, I began studying on-camera acting technique with the BGB Studio out of Los Angeles via Zoom, with teachers Risa Bramon-Garcia, Shane Conor and Corey Parker.

One of my favorite things to do is bring creative people together. In 2022, I hosted two Film Industry Nights at Ludlow House, featuring work by local filmmakers in attendance, and I have more events in the works for 2023.

No matter which side of the camera I find myself on, I love working with devoted and driven artists and storytellers. If you’re interested in collaborating with me on a project, or representing me as an artist, don’t be shy. Say hi.
